little treasures

Just popping in for a quick hello (busy busy at work in order to get things done before taking vacation time)! Thought I would share with you a few little treasures that my dad surprised me with recently. He's helping a friend clean out her mother's condo, as she is now in a nursing home, and he saw these items and thought of me. I think I hit a little jackpot! Anyway, not too sure whether I'm going to keep all these items or maybe sell some of them online or something. But for now, I'm having quite a bit of fun with these little finds!

Four awesome purses.

Variety of vintage shoes.

Amazing vintage gloves.

Lipstick cases.

periwinkle blue and florals

We've had more cloudy and rainy days than sunny days, and the temperatures are not quite up to my liking yet, so I'm still layering a bit and wearing spring jackets. Tights are still in order under dresses and skirts, and I'm looking forward to it being warm enough that I can simply throw on a dress and head out for the day. I find summer allows me to be a bit simpler with my outfits, as I don't need to be creative about layering. One thing I don't mind about this weather is that it gives me the opportunity to wear one of my favourite vintage jackets, this periwinkle blue trench.

I'm not someone that wears a lot of patterns and I tend to keep it fairly minimal when it comes to accessories, but I really appreciate some nice little details in a dress. I purchased this dress at H&M for $22, and I couldn't be more in love with it. It's simple, but carries some really great details.

Vintage trench coat
H&M dress
Vintage heels
Ring from Aldo
Vintage cameo earrings

I'm in good spirits this week because I start some vacation time on Thursday until next Tuesday! And Rob and I are finally off on a little getaway this weekend to celebrate our anniversary, so there is a lot to look forward to over here! Anything exciting coming up for you?!

new to me

I decided not to let my dead Canon ruin my outfit posts, and I so loved this little dress that I borrowed from my room mate, that I needed to just go ahead at take some photos with my old camera. I'm actually pretty happy with how they turned out, and that may also be because I've learned a bit about Photoshop.

Anyway, my room mate and I share a closet (literally) because there is only one actual closet in our apartment (the only thing that I dislike about my place), so it makes it easier to borrow her clothes. Even though this dress is from H&M last summer, it's brand new to me! Rob and I also discovered a new place to take photos, this lovely little forest park, which has all kinds of little dirt paths winding off into the distance. I think it's my new favourite place and I'm excited to explore it more, so I'm sure you will be seeing it turn up in many of my photos this summer.

Dress from my room mate (originally from H&M)
Vintage wedges
Hair bow from Ardene's
Vintage belt
Joe Fresh "Melon" lipstick

I hope that you can also discover new places and "new" dresses! Have a happy Friday!

guest post: rachel from rachel the hat

Well Hello Lovely readers of Deliciously Yours,

How are you all doing? Well the lovely Laura has given me the honour of doing a little guest post for her whilst her camera is MIA, fingers crossed for her it'll be fully charged again very soon as I miss her amazing style posts! She has the most amazing vintage pieces.

Sorry I haven't introduced myself. I'm Rachel and i blog over at Rachel The Hat. This is where i basically play dress up and post it for the world to see. I have a huge penchant for Vintage. And over the past few years I have been growing my little collection. I like to mix a range of vintage and what we Brits call "High Street"  which is the likes of Dorothy Perkins, Topshop and the likes of. Gimme anything 60's/70's inspired and I'm a happy gal!

Blouse: Vintage
Skirt: Thrifted
Bag: Vintage
Shoes: Lotta from Stockholm

I have had this blouse about a year and its is one of my favorites.. The thing I love about vintage is the possibilities of the stories it could tell (if clothes could talk, of course!). I picture this at a 1970's festival, with big glasses, platform shoes and a big floppy hat! Ahhh perfection!!
Do you favour a certain era or a certain type of clothes?

Well I will love you and leave you, but if you ever wanna see more of a grown woman (kind of) prance around in pretty clothes, with a lot of bright colours then please feel free to pop on over! I would just love to see you!

All The best
Rachel xxx

the good news is...

...I found this lovely maxi skirt at Salvation Army for $7.

The bad new is I had to take this photo using my little point-and-shoot camera because I lost the battery charger for my new Rebel. I spent all day Sunday calling all the stores I could think of that might carry the charger I needed, and NONE of them had it in stock. I was finally told by one place that the chargers were on back order from Canon and could take an undetermined amount of time to be ordered and sent to me, and would cost me a minimum of $50. Horrible, horrible news.

Things are looking better now, as I was able to find an off-brand charger as a temporary replacement on Amazon for just over $7 (same price as my skirt!), but it's going to take 7 - 11 business days to get here. Sigh.

This has been incredibly frustrating, and I'm glad that I was finally able to find one, but for the next week or so the photos on this blog are going to be a little less than lovely. It feels like a bit of a set-back to my blog, as I was finally able to have the photos be up to the quality that I had wanted for so long. I've been debating whether I should take a bit of a hiatus until I can get things going properly again, but decided that I will still post on my blog, it will just look a bit different for the next while.

Anyway, please bear with me as things may not look as nice as they have recently, but as soon as I get my charger and am able to use my Canon again, things will be back to normal!
