a last salute to winter

I see some very hopeful signs of spring (not to mention that this afternoon is supposed to be +17!), but there are a few lingering "wintery" days. And it's this time of year when it's chilly in the mornings so I bundle up, but by the time I'm leaving work I have to shed all those layers!

So here is my last salute to winter! It's been great, but it's time to say goodbye! And what better way than with one of my favourite winter dresses, which is certainly not suitable for summer weather (ie. is it 100% wool AND lined).

 Wool hounds-tooth vintage dress.

 Red 1980's blazer

Handmade necklace RB bought me in Vancouver.

 Vintage leather belt

I love the little buttons all the way up the back of this dress.

The only thing about winter ending that makes me sad, is having to put this dress away in my closet until the cold weather again.

AND IN OTHER EXCITING NEWS!
I am going to be an auntie for the first time! I'm sooo excited for the wee one to come in August, so I can spoil him/her with lots of adorable little outfits!

phone photos: my weekend

I don't know about you, but I had a GREAT weekend (and I really do hope yours was great as well)! And I took today off as a vacation day from work, just because I felt the need for a bit of a break, so my weekend continues!

The weather this weekend was a little all over the place, but overall it was pretty lovely outside, so I was in the mood to be out-and-about. The winter tends to make me a bit of a hermit, so it's nice once spring starts to peek its head out a bit, and I can actually feel social again! I'm currently house/pet sitting for my Aunt and Uncle in the east end of the city, in The Beaches, so I've been able to spent time at some of the places I use to love when I lived close to here a few years ago.

So here are some photos via my cell phone from my weekend!

I spent my Friday night in, eating some fancy ice cream and dreaming about the lovely spring fashions.

Saturday was gorgeous and sunny, so my sister and I went out to the east end for brunch at a lovely place called Lady Marmalade.

This is what happens when you order a breakfast BLT without the bread. It was still incredibly delicious!

Our table had this adorable little pepper shaker!

Enjoying a good cup of Irish Breakfast tea!

The boy and I went out to dinner to one of my favourite restaurants (The Green Eggplant) that I barely get to go to because its fairly far from where I live now. RB had never been there, so he didn't realize that everything there is gigantic. Hence, when he ordered the "Jumbo Milkshake", it really was jumbo!

Looking back at this pictures, I realize that my weekend centred around food, but sometimes good food makes for a good weekend!

What did you get up to this weekend?!

surprise! and honest ed's

Well I'm sure you've noticed that something's a little different around this here little blog. It got the makeover of it's dreams (well, my dreams really)! All this is thanks to a lovely lady over at Paper Crowns, who generously gave of her free time to help me improve my blog. Make sure you check out her beautiful blog!

And in other news, here in Toronto we have a very weird store that has been around forreevvveerr. It's a bit of a famous place. It's called Honest Ed's and it's a HUGE bargain shop, and the joke is that once you go in, you can never find your way out again (and it's basically true...you could get lost in there for days!). The store is also known for all the strange signs covering the building which each feature another terrible pun after another. My boyfriend's work (a fancy little record shop called Sonic Boom) rents out space on the main floor, and so he helped me take some outfit photos in the very weird Honest Ed's Alley.

The crazy place

Dwarfed by bad jokes.

Vintage blazer

Vintage wedge sandals

Silk embroidered blouse found at an estate sale.

Thrifted deer necklace.

Vintage carpet bag

American Apparel pants

I leave you with one more silly pun!

Just a quick hello on a Monday morning! It's VERY cold here today. We've been getting unseasonably warm temperatures for most of this winter, but today from some reason it's about -20! And the weather forecast for Wednesday is +11. I'm not sure what's going on, but I am definitely looking forward to Wednesday! So on this cold Monday (Bleh. A bad combination) here's a peek at my fun accessories in an attempt to put a little cheeriness into today!

Hi there! Bow hair tie from Forever 21

Pearl and diamond bracelets from Aldo Accessories

financial district

My office is in the financial district (I certainly don't work in finance), and it's an interesting part of the city to me. The architecture of the buildings is fairly boring, made up mostly of glass and mirrors and stark white lobbies. And the fashion is usually not very interesting either. I tend to stand out in my colourful "strange" outfits in the sea of black and grey suits. I actually enjoy this, because what is fashion about if not being a bit daring and standing out in the crowd?

H&M sweater
Mustard skirt from Urban Outfitters. Vintage coral heels.
H&M top.

Vintage luggage bag. Pearl bracelets from Aldo Accessories.

And a special announcement! I've been selected as a ModCloth Style Ambassador for 2012! I love this online shop and am so excited about this amazing opportunity. If you don't know the website already, have a look around here.

 Happy Friday everyone!
